Goa different Cuisines Styles

Goa offers rich varieties of vegetable as well as fish and meat dishes. Most people take rice with fish curry as their staple diet. Goa is famous for its rich different types of fish dishes cooked with elaborate recipes. Most of the food items are cooked with coconut oil. There is plenty of use of coconut, chili peppers, spices and vinegar in most of the dishes which give the food its unique flavour.

During festive occasions a number of delicious cuisines are prepared at almost every house. An exotic Goan vegetable stew, known as Khatkhate, is very popular dish during these occasions. Khatkhate is prepared by using at least five vegetables, fresh coconut, and special Goan spices that add to the aroma of the item. A rich egg-based multi-layered sweet dish known as bebinca is popular among Christmas.

The most popular alcoholic beverage in Goa is feni. Cashew feni is made from the fermentation of the fruit of the cashew tree, while coconut feni is made from the sap of toddy palms.
